I don’t know if work means more to men, after all, for women who wanted to work but couldn’t, finally being able to meant a lot. But I do agree that it means something different to men. The concept of the 'breadwinner' is a really persistent one.

And yes, I agree a really good welfare system is essential for the mental health and wellbeing of all workers! Everyone should feel able to quit any job without fear of penury.
