I think this is absolutely pat of the problem, and I’ve written about it before.

However, I also think it’s a mistake to assuemt hat education exists only for the benefit of the student’s future job prosopects. That being said, perhaps true love for learning can only be a reality in a world where basic human wants are all already met.
